Apprenticeships with OpenClassrooms

Each week you'll develop new skills, through a combination of on-the-job training as well as more formal online project-based learning. You will have your own dedicated mentor, a practising professional in the field, who will support you through each step of your learning and help you apply the skills you've developed into your work.

Digital Marketer (6 positions)

A Digital Marketer’s job is to connect businesses with their customers when they’re online. They are responsible for leveraging digital channels to design, build, and implement marketing campaigns, as well as generating leads and driving customer sales. A Digital Marketer also harnesses analytics to identify weaknesses and find ways to improve marketing efforts across all digital channels.

What Skills Will You Learn During Your Training?
Over the course of this training program, we'll teach you a variety of skills, including how to:
- Research and watch market trends
- Implement a digital marketing strategy
- Improve web analytics and design
- Use marketing tools for SEO improvements
- Collect leads via a website, using landing pages and email automation.

Data Analyst (4 positions)

A Data Analyst's job is to analyze data and transform it into highly valuable metrics for a company. They are responsible for both data collection and data processing as well as guaranteeing data integrity.

A Data Analyst reports the results to various departments in the company. Therefore, a Data Analyst will need to develop communication and reporting skills to support decision-making processes.

What Skills Will You Learn During Your Training?
Over the course of this training program, we'll teach you a variety of skills, including how to:
- Collect, compile, and clean raw data (often from lots of different sources).
- Tell stories by helping analyze, interpret, visualize, and report on what secrets are in the data.
- Draw conclusions and make recommendations that will help your business to grow.
- Organize and manage how your company stores, archives, and deletes data securely, and legally.
- Help predict the future by modeling, forecasting, and anticipating what might come next.

In addition to these technical skills, you will learn key soft skills, which will help you grow as a Data Analyst and allow you to progress in your career.

There are four stages to the application process:

1. Fill in our 4 step application form with all requested documentation. Our admissions team will come back to you within 2 days to confirm your eligibility. For more information on the eligibility requirements, please see the question: Am I eligible to apply?.

2. If your application is pre-selected, you'll be able to schedule a 15-minute video-interview with a member of our Admissions team. This interview is a great opportunity for you to ask questions and to further discuss your motivations and career objectives.

3. The admissions interview will help shortlist candidates who will move forward to a job interview with the employer.

4. The employer will complete the process and confirm your place on the apprenticeship.

Apprenticeships are a fantastic way to learn while you earn. They provide the chance to get real world experience on-the-job, supported by a structured training program that helps you develop the technical and soft skills to thrive in a new occupation.

This opens up an alternative pathway to those without a degree or prior experience to take their first step into a new Tech career.

We have split the apprenticeship up into two stages. 1st you spend 3 months studying full-time on a Bootcamp. Once completed you'll then start in your new role. The apprenticeship will then take around 12 months. With 80% of your time spent undertaking work and on-the-job training with your new team. The other 20% of your week is spent training with OpenClassrooms. Where you'll be supported by your own personal Mentor. Who'll guide you through the learning and development of your new skills.

You will spend the first 3 months of your employment studying full-time with OpenClassrooms developing the fundamental skills you'll need for the role. We call this the pre-apprenticeship Bootcamp. You'll be supported by your own dedicated mentor who will guide your training through scenario based projects, via weekly video sessions.  

You'll agree with you manager when you'll be expected in the office versus when you can work from home.

During you apprenticeship (3 months Bootcamp + 12 months apprenticeship) you will be employed as a contingent contractor.

At the end you'll be awarded with an Apprenticeship credential from the Department of Labor.

Upon successful completion of your apprenticeship Merck will offer full-time positions to the majority of apprentices. Or you can use your new skills and experience to find alternative employment.


You will be paid throughout the duration of your apprenticeship program, including the three months of Bootcamp training. You will achieve hourly wage increases as you progress through the program

You must:

- Be able to work on-site within the Upper Gwynedd, PA, West Point, PA, or Kenilworth, NJ area depending on the position.

- Be at least 18 years of age and legally able to work in the U.S.

- Complete OpenClassrooms (Free) courses in Discover Digital Marketing (Digital Marketing role), or Master the Basics of Spreadsheets (Data Analyst role).

- Have a strong verbal and written level of English (for non-native speakers, a CEFR level of B2, an IELTS band score of 6.5, or a TOEFL score of 80 is recommended).

- Have a high school diploma, vocational certificate, or equivalent.

- Availability to train 15 months: 3 months Bootcamp + 12 months apprenticeship program

- Have access to a computer (PC or Mac), headphones, a webcam, and a stable internet connection.

- Additional qualifications to be determined.

A degree or previous experience is not required for eligibility.
